The Aven Armand cave, the only one of its kind in the world, was discovered on the Causse Méjean in 1897 by Louis Armand, Armand Viré and Edouard-Alfred Martel, the father of French speleology.

You’ll be welcomed at the spéléogare, an unusual station in the heart of the Causse Méjean, where you can set off on an hour-long underground journey.

After descending by funicular railway for easy access, let yourself be guided into the heart of a 20-million-year-old white forest of alabaster and crystal, the only one of its kind in the world. During your visit, this exceptional white forest, with over 400 stalagmites, will reveal its secrets to you.

As long as 150 years ago, Jules Verne wrote “Journey to the Centre of the Earth”, inventing an underground world filled with fabulous animals, giant plants and surrounded by magical crystals…

This great visionary imagined a world that already existed beneath our feet! It was only natural to pay tribute to him by staging a sound and light show more than 100 metres underground.
